James R. Dobell, 37, has been named vice president of manufacturing at Ropak Corp., a Fullerton-based manufacturer of plastic packaging and shipping containers. He was an industrial engineer at Crown Zellerbach Canada Ltd. in Vancouver, B.C., from 1973 until joining the Capilano Companies in 1978 as a production manager in the company’s Canadian plant. He later served as operations manager in Capilano’s Seattle factory and in 1982 was named general manager. When Ropak acquired Capilano early in 1985, Dobell was named director of industrial engineering.
