One Mexican man is dead and another is in jail after a shooting early Monday morning in Escondido, police said.
Jaime Venegas-Reyes, 25, was found dead in a grove at Henry’s Avocados, a packing plant on East Lincoln Street in Escondido, according to Escondido Police Lt. Earl Callander. A coroner’s spokesman said Reyes had been shot in the chest.
A company security guard reported hearing shots fired between midnight and 3 a.m. after a fight between Reyes and other men who worked at the plant. The body was found about 7 a.m.
Jorge Martinez-Venegas, 47, was arrested and booked into County Jail in Vista on suspicion of murder.
