A 17-year-old boy was stabbed several times early Saturday morning in an Anaheim park after four or five males tried to steal his beer, police said.
Robert Matthew Parsons of Anaheim was reported in guarded condition at UCI Medical Center.
The attack occurred about 2 a.m. Saturday in Schweitzer Park, 311 S. Bel Air St., as Parsons and an unidentified friend were drinking beer, Police Officer Jerry King said.
The two were confronted by four or five males, described as 16 to 20 years old, who “wanted to steal the remaining beer,†King said, adding that a fight ensued and Parsons was stabbed several times in the back.
The attackers were driving an early 1970s white Mazda station wagon with wood panels, police said. No one is in custody and the investigation is continuing. It was not known if the stabbing was gang-related, King said.
