Questions About Law Enforcement : Police Brutality Against Latinos
The article regarding brutal force inflicted on Latino citizens by police in Huntington Park brings back memories of similar incidents in the not too distant past in the County of Los Angeles.
In those days, when any Latino (we were classified as Mexicans regardless of birthplace) was found deceased in jail, the usual explanation was that the person fell off the cell bunk. No autopsy, no other explanation was deemed necessary. Grieving relatives had no recourse.
With over 80% Latino population, the citizens are at the mercy of an opportunist City Council consisting of five narrow-minded, bigoted charlatans.
If government agencies protecting the civil rights of citizens don’t come in and halt these abuses, the situation will only worsen.
