Four Track Athletes Sign With Northridge

Darcy Arreola of Grossmont High in La Mesa topped a list of four track athletes who have signed letters of intent to attend Cal State Northridge.
CSUN Coach Don Strametz said Friday the Matadors also signed Tyrone Jeffries of Muir High in Pasadena, Heather Houston of Burroughs High in Ridgecrest and Lisa Ash of Moorpark College.
Arreola, state champion in the 1,600 meters, ran a best of 4:42.77, the fastest high school time in the nation. She also ran 2:09.27 in the 800, 9:52.0 in the 3,000 and 10:39.77 in the 3,200.
Jeffries, the Pasadena Games high hurdles champion, ran 14.47 in the 110-meter highs and anchored Muir’s 400-meter relay team to a state-best 40.93 time at the Mt. SAC Relays in April.
Ash placed sixth in the state community college championships and had a personal best of 4:36 in the 1,500. Houston has personal bests of 2:17.1 for 800 meters, 5:12 in the mile and 11:14 in the two-mile.
