Police who raided a Stanton home Friday arrested four men, three on drug charges, and confiscated two loaded handguns and a small quantity of heroin.
Cypress Police Lt. John Schaefer said the raid culminated a weeklong investigation by the department’s Special Enforcement Team, which specializes in narcotics and burglary cases.
The actual amount of the heroin was not disclosed.
Schaefer said that Jose Angel Luna, 27, who lived at the home, was arrested on suspicion of heroin possession. Sergio Antonio Luna, 25, also a resident there, was arrested on outstanding warrants that charged him with a misdemeanor traffic violation and possession of a concealed firearm by a former felon.
Steven Esparza, 28, of Stanton was arrested on suspicion of possessing narcotics paraphernalia. And Joseph Matthew Valdez, 27, of Stanton was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of heroin.
Officers a week ago received information that led them to suspect that heroin was being sold at the home, Schaefer said, reading from a prepared statement. He said that officers obtained a search warrant and arrived about 5:45 a.m.
Because investigators had been told that the suspects were armed and that the front door had been heavily secured, the Sheriff’s Department special weapons team also went to the house, Schaefer said.
The two loaded guns were found “next to the suspects in the living room,” Schaefer said, but no shots were fired by anyone.
The suspects were booked into Cypress City Jail and then transferred to County Jail, where they were being held on bail, Schafer said.
