Computer Sciences reported that its first-quarter profit was up 28% on a 25% revenue gain. William R. Hoover, chairman and president of the El Segundo firm, said the principal factor in the improved results was the strong performance of the company’s industry services group. That group benefited from growth in its consumer credit reporting activities, from the commencement of operations to process Medicaid claims for New York state and from a recently acquired subsidiary serving health maintenance organizations.
