Jac Holzman, former Panavision chairman and the founder of both Elektra and Nonesuch Records, and Jonathan T. Taplin, a movie producer-turned-investment banker, have formed a Los Angeles-based investment banking partnership named First Media.
Taplin, 38, most recently served as a vice president for Merrill Lynch White Weld Capital Markets, working on mergers and acquisitions from the West Coast.
Holzman, 54, is a former senior vice president and chief technologist of Warner Communications, which acquired his record companies in 1970.
