Spanish film maker Carlos Saura will receive a special tribute from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on July 28 at 8 p.m. in the Samuel Goldwyn Theater.
The tribute, celebrating Saura’s 27-year career as a director, will include clips from his 21 completed features, including “The Hunt,” “The Garden of Delights” and “Cria.” Scenes from his renowned flamenco trilogy--”Blood Wedding,” “Carmen” and his newest, “El Amor, Brujo”--also will be screened.
Saura, whose pictures “Mama Turns 100” and “Carmen” were nominated for Academy Awards, will attend the tribute and discuss his art with several Spanish stars, collaborators and friends.
