A passenger was killed and the driver of the car was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter after setting off a four-car collision Friday night, Orange police reported.
Officers arrested Calvin R. Cully, 20, of Irvine, according to Lt. Tray Sirks. Cully was uninjured but his passenger, Chris Ison, 20, of Riverside, died at the scene, Sirks said. Cully’s car was one of the two that caught fire.
Cully was eastbound on Chapman Avenue about 11 p.m. when he rear-ended another vehicle, which had stopped near Pixley Street for a passing train, Sirks said. A chain collision occurred, and one person sustained minor injuries, according to Sirks.
Police did not release the names of the others involved in the accident.
