Mammoth Cycling Race Series Begins Today

MAMMOTH LAKES — The second-annual Bud Light Mammoth cycling race, with $42,000 in cash and prizes, begins today and runs through July 20 in the Eastern Sierra.
Competition will open with a six-stage road event known as the Mammoth Mountain Kamikaze. The downhill portion (a drop of more than 2,000 feet in 4 miles) is set for Sunday at 1 p.m. from the summit of Mammoth Mountain. The finish is in front of the main lodge.
A three-stage mountain race, a new event, will get under way Wednesday at Whiskey Creek restaurant, and the Red Line BMX event will be held next Saturday and Sunday at a track one mile south of the Mammoth/June airport at Whitmore Park.
