Fallen Cyclist Hit, Killed by Truck

A Santa Ana man who lost control of his bicycle was killed Friday afternoon when he tumbled into the path of a loaded gravel truck, Santa Ana police said.
Fernando Rabadan Balavas, 20, suffered massive head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident in the 1700 block of West 1st Street, Lt. Jack Nelson said.
Nelson said the victim was westbound on a bicycle on 1st Street, when he appeared to lose control, according to witnesses. Balavas fell to his left, into the path of the right front dual wheel of the gravel truck, which ran over him, he said.
The truck driver was not cited.
