United Telecommunications reported that its second-quarter earnings rose 6.8% from a year earlier. The Kansas City, Mo.-based firm noted that its net income from telephone operations was up 5% to $164.7 million in the first half of 1986 on revenue of $1.2 billion. United Telecom President William T. Esrey said US Telecom’s first-half results were in line with expectations.
