Clarke Heads Construction Research Board

John J. Clarke, president of Clarke Contracting Corp., Compton, representing the Southern California Assn. of Contractors, has been elected 1986 president of the Construction Industry Research Board.
He succeeds James Halverson of J. A. James Construction Co., also representing the contracting group. Clarke was the 1980 president of the SCCA and has been honored as that group’s contractor of the year.
Other officers and directors are Jack Oechsel of Sam Cal Corp., first vice president, and Ben Earl of the O.K. Earl Corp., representing the Associated General Contractors; Jack McCormick of McCormick Construction and Roger Werbel of Roger C. Werbel Inc., representing the Building Industry Assn. of Southern California, and Gregory Antonovich of George Miller Construction Co. and William C. Schmidt of Schmidt Construction, representing the Engineering Contractors Assn.
Founded in 1974, the Construction Industry Research Board is a research center and library serving the needs of the California Construction industry. It is based at 2509 Empire Ave., Burbank.
