Eye-Catching Utah

Thank you Los Angeles Times and Betty Hughes, Assistant Travel Editor, for the eye-catching, colorful pictures of Arches and Zion with the boldly lettered “Utah, A Land of Illusion.” We took the May 4 Travel Section on our recent trip. Brent Cottam of Cottam’s 66 in Escalante appreciated the article and kind words about Utah 12. We appreciated the economical gas prices, clean restrooms, convenience store and information.

We enjoyed a picnic at Calf Creek Recreation Area about 15 miles north of Escalante, and a coffee break while reading the points of reference on the plaque at the overlook on Boulder Mountain. We were not prepared for camping, but saw many sites that were tempting in the wooded areas of the mountain. Next time. . . .
