THOMPSONVILLE, Mich. — A 62-year-old woman died of a brain hemorrhage after being struck in the head by a golf ball hit by her husband, who vowed never to play the game again.
Jane Perkins of Warren died Thursday in Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, a day after she was struck at the Crystal Mountain Resort golf course, officials said.
She was seated in a golf cart to the left of the ninth tee when she was struck by the drive hit by her husband, Jack, a retired Ford Motor Co. engineer.
The ball “hit off the head of my club and shot like a bullet,” Perkins said. “It’s just a freak, unlucky accident. She was at the wrong place at the wrong time, and so was I.
“I’ll never play the game again.”
