Val Danseur and Rivlia Finish One-Two for Whittingham in Golden Gate Feature

ALBANY, Calif. — Val Danseur held off Rivlia by two lengths Sunday to give Hall of Fame trainer Charlie Whittingham a one-two finish in the $159,000 Rolling Green Handicap at Golden Gate Fields.
Ridden by Gary Stevens and carrying 119 pounds, Val Danseur equaled Silveyville’s 1984 course record of 2:27 2/5 for 1 1/2 miles on the turf. Val Danseur had earlier been the co-winner in the Golden Gate Handicap.
Val Danseur earned $89,000 for the victory, upping his career earnings to $436,520. The winner returned $6.00, $3.40 and $2.40.
Rivlia paid $4.80 and $3.40. Talakeno, finishing another length back, returned $2.80 to show.
