5 Guards, 2 Inmates Hurt in Fight at Jail
Five Orange County Jail deputies and two inmates received minor injuries when a fight broke out at the jail during the noon meal Sunday, Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Ron Greer said.
Greer said the disturbance erupted on the fourth floor of the men’s jail about 12:10 p.m. The cause of the fight is under investigation.
Greer did not release the names of the inmates or deputies involved.
He said the two inmates were taken to UCI Medical Center where they were treated for bruised ribs. They were returned later to the jail.
The deputies were taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana and treated for cuts, bruises and sprains, and then released, Greer said.
