West German Chancellor Helmut Kohl was cleared Friday in the second of two separate investigations into allegations that he lied to parliamentary inquiries into illicit political donations.

The Bonn state prosecutor’s office said in a statement that a three-month investigation had yielded no evidence to support the allegations. The inquiry centered on testimony to a parliamentary committee in November, 1984, in which Kohl denied receiving two cash payments totaling $24,000 from the Flick industrial concern.

Koblenz state prosecutors cleared Kohl 10 days earlier of similar perjury allegations.
