Culver City : Building Permit Fees to Go Up

Fees charged by the city for building permits, ambulance calls and fire prevention services will be raised soon under three proposed laws recommended Tuesday by the City Council.

The council directed the city attorney to prepare a law increasing building permit fees an average of 41% after the city staff reported that Culver City charges nearly 50% less than eight surrounding cities. Fees for plumbing, heating and air conditioning permits alone will go up 193% to cover city inspection and processing costs under the proposed law.

The council voted to increase transport fees in paramedic vans for non-residents from $90 to $120 for one person and from $65 to $90 for non-residents when more than one person is transported. Fees for fire inspections and permits would also increase by more than 30% under the third proposal.
