Anaheim : Garbage Pickup Tab Will Rise Next Week

The price of getting rid of garbage will increase in Anaheim next week.
The City Council has approved monthly rate increases for residential, commercial and industrial customers. The new rates will go into effect Tuesday.
Residential customers will pay $5.39, up 4.7% from last year. The rate for multiple-family dwellings will rise to $4.98 per unit, up 3.3% over last year, and weekly pickup rates for trash bins also will increase.
Commercial and industrial collection and disposal will rise from $4.20 to $4.36 per container per month. Once-a-week bulk collection will drop from $50.05 to $49.74, due primarily to an increase in the number of containers picked up, according to a staff report presented to the council.
The new rates are based on increased insurance premiums of city contractors and increases in the consumer price index, according to John Roche, city maintenance director.
