Orange County Will Keep Whale Skeletons
Two prehistoric whale skeletons found recently at a Laguna Niguel development site will stay in Orange County, instead of being turned over to the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History, the Orange County Board of Supervisors has decided.
The 30-foot-long adult skeleton and the 10-foot juvenile estimated to be up to 9 million years old were taken to an Orange County-owned warehouse this week after the supervisors’ vote.
They will be stored for restoration by the Natural History Foundation of Orange County and displayed at a smaller Newport Beach museum.
