Fairgrounds Expo Lets Youths Show Off Skills
More than 1,000 children from Orange County schools showed off their skills, their pets and their brain power Saturday and Sunday at Youth Expo ’86 at the Orange County Fairgrounds.
The expo, which attracted an estimated 8,000 people over the weekend, was designed to showcase various in-school and extracurricular projects presented by the students.
Exhibits included examples of students’ skills in baking, woodworking, animal husbandry, music, dance, art, photography and “really anything you can think of that kids get involved in at school and in their extracurricular activities,†said Christeen Brunet, a spokeswoman for the fairgrounds.
Also held was an “academic pentathlon,†a multiple-subject quiz competition.
Projects and exhibits were judged by various professionals and other specialists in the areas of competition.
