Encino Girl Killed, 3 Hurt as Truck Flips
Three teen-agers remained hospitalized Monday after an accident on the Antelope Valley Freeway in which a pickup truck overturned in the center divider, ejecting all passengers and killing the driver, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.
Eloise Fridley, 17, of Encino was killed Sunday when the 1978 pickup she was driving veered out of control while traveling about 55 m.p.h. in the freeway’s northbound lanes near Palmdale, the CHP reported.
Also injured were her brother, Asa Fridley, 16, who was in serious but stable condition at Palmdale Hospital Medical Center, and her sister, Margie Fridley, 14, who was in critical condition at Antelope Valley Hospital Medical Center.
A fourth passenger, Alice Riddle, 13, of Canoga Park was in stable condition at Palmdale Hospital Medical Center. Riddle and Asa Fridley were sitting in the uncovered truck bed when the accident occurred, the CHP spokesman said.
