Paramount may be making Mario Puzo an offer he can’t refuse: A high-ranking studio source confirmed that Puzo is all but signed to take another shot at writing “Godfather III.� (Puzo did a treatment in 1978 that never developed.) Our source also added that the studio has been in discussion with Russian director Andrei Konchalovsky (“Runaway Train�). That’s now on hold until the studio sees Puzo’s script, but, according to the exec, “Anything is possible in the ‘Godfather III’ sweepstakes.�
