U.S. District Judge Anna Diggs Taylor refused to delay Fruehauf Corp.’s annual meeting, setting the stage for a May 1 battle for control of the truck-trailer maker. The request to delay the shareholder meeting was made by the New York investor, who has offered $935 million for control of the company. Edelman told the court that Fruehauf had lied to shareholders regarding his takeover bid. Fruehauf, in a letter to shareholders last week, said Edelman did not enhance shareholder values in his 1984 takeover of Datapoint.
