Procter & Gamble said its fiscal third-quarter profits rose 4.4% over a year ago on a 21.8% jump in sales. Growth in net earnings was hurt by an unusually low tax rate in the same quarter a year ago, the consumer products company said. Revenue soared because the company included the sales of Richardson-Vicks Inc., which it recently acquired. Procter & Gamble makes laundry and cleaning products, personal care products, foods and beverages.
