Blackout Hits UCLA Campus
The northern half of the UCLA campus was without electrical power for 75 minutes this morning, when problems occurred on a 34,500-volt Department of Water and Power electrical line and an automatic transfer switch designed to restore power. No injuries occurred, and the UCLA Medical Center was not affected, said university spokesman Harlan Lebo. Some classes and faculty meetings had to be conducted outside until power was restored at 10:10 a.m.
