Boy, 2, Drowns in Apartment Pool

A 2-year-old boy drowned in the swimming pool of an Anaheim apartment complex Friday afternoon, apparently after slipping out of his apartment through an open sliding-glass door, police said.

Police identified the boy as Rene Omar Segura, who, they said, had been left in the care of his father while his mother was away at work.

Officers said neighbor children discovered the boy lying on the pool bottom. He was pulled from the water and taken to Placentia-Linda Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
