El Torito Net Income Down 14% for Quarter

El Torito Restaurants Inc. said net income for the first quarter totaled $1.9 million, down 14% from $2.1 million a year earlier. Revenues of $91.7 million were up 40% from $65.4 million the prior year.
Larry J. Cano, president of the Irvine-based restaurant chain, said the results reflect increased interest expenses stemming from the financing for El Torito’s 1985 acquisitions of the Casa Maria and Casa Gallardo restaurant operations.
