Sunny Weekend--but Only in the Afternoons

Subtropical moisture will cloud morning skies in San Diego County through the weekend, but sunshine should evaporate the thick cover about noon to allow sunny afternoons.

The moist air mass that arrived late Wednesday from the southwest is expected to cling during night and morning hours through Sunday while a weak high-pressure system lingers, the National Weather Service at Lindbergh Field reported.

Some drizzle may fall in the early morning when the humidity is at its highest, but rain is not expected to dampen weekend activities. Daytime humidity will continue above normal with about 70% relative humidity at midday, and some variable high clouds may dot otherwise blue afternoon skies.

Sailing winds will be light, with afternoon breezes from the southwest of about 10 to 18 m.p.h. The surf is flat, at 2 to 3 feet.

Temperatures may cool slightly through Sunday, but will remain near normal in all areas.

Along the coast, highs are expected to be in the 60s during the day, with lows in the 50s.

Inland valley highs of 66 to 72 degrees will fall to 48 to 55 degrees at night.

In the mountains and deserts, days should be mostly sunny through the weekend. Mountain highs are expected to be in the 50s, with lows in the 30s.
