Seven Peking Officials Imprisoned for Corruption

PEKING — Seven Peking officials have been sentenced to jail terms ranging from three to 15 years for taking bribes and embezzling public funds, the official China Daily said Monday.
The Peking Intermediate People’s Court sentenced the former chief of the city’s Public Utility Bureau, five officials of the municipal gas company and a Communist Party aide in an open trial attended by more than 400 people Saturday, the paper said.
