More than 1,000 inmates at the state men’s correctional facility at Tehachapi who refused to eat an evening meal later went to breakfast without incident. Most of the 1,173 inmates in the prison’s minimum-security section stayed in their cells when the evening meal was served. Several inmates said their action was to protest the quality of food at the prison, officials at the facility said.
