MIRA LOMA — A motorist was killed early Monday when he was thrown from his pickup truck after a crash on California 60, a Highway Patrol spokesman said.
John Mitchem, 27, of Mira Loma was driving west, apparently at a high speed, when his 1986 pickup truck rear-ended another vehicle, veered into the median and rolled several times, according to CHP Officer Terry Taylor. Mitchem, who was not wearing a seat beat, was ejected from the vehicle, Taylor said.
Mitchem died of “brain injuries with hemorrhages,” according to a spokeswoman for the Riverside county coroner.
Neither the driver nor a passenger in the other vehicle was injured, CHP Officer John Anderson said.
