Redondo Beach : Bus Pass Subsidy Voted
The City Council on Tuesday approved a plan to subsidize monthly bus passes for students and elderly and disabled residents.
The city will purchase the passes monthly from the Southern California Rapid Transit District and then sell them at a discount for $4.
The subsidies, which will amount to $8 per month for student tickets and $3 for the elderly and handicapped, are expected to cost the city about $60,000 annually. The money will come from the city’s share of the county’s transit tax.
April passes for the elderly and disabled will be sold beginning Tuesday at the Community Resource Center, 320 Knob Hill Ave. Students will be able to buy passes by mail from the city’s Licensing and Collections Department at City Hall, 415 Diamond St.
