Andujar Goes 3 Perfect Innings in A’s Debut

PHOENIX, Ariz. — Joaquin Andujar made his pitching debut with the Oakland A’s and worked three perfect innings Wednesday in an 8-2 exhibition victory over San Diego Padres.
Andujar, obtained from the St. Louis Cardinals in baseball’s biggest off-season trade, threw just 23 pitches, 16 of them for strikes, to the nine batters he faced. Five of batters were recorded on groundballs.
“Don’t get excited. I’m only starting up,†Andujar said. “I threw nothing but fastballs.â€
