The Orange County Philharmonic Society will present the Chicago Symphony and Cleveland Orchestra--in addition to the Los Angeles Philharmonic--in a 10-concert schedule beginning Oct. 9 at the Orange County Performing Arts Center, society officials announced Wednesday.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic will perform four concerts under Orange County Philharmonic Society auspices--Oct. 9, Dec. 6, Jan. 31, 1987, and April 25, 1987, said Erich Vollmer, society executive director. Two of these concerts will be conducted by the orchestra’s music director, Andre Previn. The Oct. 9 concert, featuring violinist Isaac Stern, will be conducted by Kurt Sanderling; the Jan. 31 program by Esa-Pekka Salonen. The society has been presenting the Los Angeles Philharmonic in its Orange County tours since 1962.

Thomas Kendrick, Orange County Center executive director, said the Center will present two other Los Angeles Philharmonic appearances, Sept. 29 and Oct.1. Zubin Mehta has already been announced as conductor for the Sept. 29 concert, which will open the Center’s 3,000-seat, multipurpose theater in Costa Mesa.

The Cleveland Orchestra, conducted by Christoph von Dohnanyi, will appear Oct. 26; Chicago Symphony, Sir Georg Solti, conductor, Feb. 2, 1987, and Orchestre National de France, Lorin Maazel, conductor, March 13, 1987. Kazimierz Kord will conduct the Warsaw Philharmonic on March 18, 1987, with pianist Misha Dichter as soloist.

The local society will also present two concerts with the Orange County Pacific Symphony and the Pacific Chorale, Nov. 8 and April 12, 1987.

Vollmer said scheduling difficulties prevented the booking of several other orchestras announced last September as being under consideration to appear at the Center. These included the Johann Strauss Orchestra of Vienna and Swedish National Orchestra and Orchestre National de Lille.
