Laser Precision Corp. reported fourth-quarter net income of $50,581, its first profitable period since the fourth quarter of 1982. In the fourth quarter of 1984, the company posted a loss of $200,642.
For the year, however, the Irvine-based maker of measuring instruments posted a net loss of $340,081, compared to a net loss of $984,320 for the prior year.
The company attributed the fourth-quarter results to “steady improvement in its analytical instrument business” and “continued strength” in its line of fiber optic test equipment. Norm Jennings, senior vice president of operations, said the company anticipates a small profit for the first quarter and is “hoping for substantially improved results for 1986.”
Laser Precision said fourth-quarter revenue was $2.9 million, compared to revenue of $2.4 million in 1984.
For the year, the company reported revenue of $9.3 million, compared to revenue of $7.8 million a year earlier.
