San Diego College Baseball : Baron Powers USD to a Sweep

Sean Baron of the University of San Diego hit two home runs as the Toreros swept a doubleheader from Cal State Los Angeles Saturday, 4-2 and 3-1 in nonconference play at USD.
In the first game, Baron hit a three-run homer over the right-field fence. Pitcher Dan Newman (2-0) went the distance for USD.
Baron hit his second homer of the day, with one on in the sixth inning of the second game. Tom Sizer, 4-0, won the nightcap.
USD, now 7-1-1, gave Coach John Cunningham his 499th win with the second-game victory. Cal State Los Angeles is now 4-5.
Cunningham will try for win No. 500 at 5 p.m. Wednesday when the Toreros play at San Diego State.
Biola 5-2, UC San Diego 2-8--David Stanovich had five hits and pitcher Mark Sloan ran his record to 3-0 Saturday as the Tritons split at doubleheader with Biola at UCSD.
In the opener, Stanovich had three hits and two RBIs in a 5-2 loss. Matt Suttle hit a home run and three RBIs for Biola.
Stanovich had two hits, including a solo home run, to lead UCSD to an 8-2 win in the nightcap.
UCSD is now 5-6-1. Biola is 4-1.
Chapman 4-5, United States International University 3-1--Chapman College received strong performances from pitchers Mark Bradley and Steve Dunn Saturday to sweep USIU 4-3, 5-1, in a nonconference doubleheader at Hart Park in Orange.
Bradley (1-0) pitched three innings of shutout relief in the opener as the Panthers dropped the Gulls, 4-3. Dunn (3-1) went the distance in the seven-inning nightcap as Chapman won, 5-1.
