A bandit suspected of five downtown bank robberies in the past two months struck again Thursday at Home Savings of America, a police spokesman said.

The bandit was about 30 years old, 5-foot-6, had dried blood on his face and had a scruffy appearance, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.

The bandit gave a teller at Home Savings, 110 W. Ash St., a note that read: “Give me your money. I have a gun.” The bandit did not display a gun, Robinson said.

The teller gave the man $800 to $900. He then fled out the back door, westbound down Beech Street, Robinson said.
