Central County : Three Cities to Get U.S. Development Funds

The Board of Supervisors has approved $430,000 in federal block grant funds for street work and low-interest home-improvement loans within Cypress, Los Alamitos and Stanton.
The funds are part of federal community development money awarded to cities, primarily to upgrade specific low-income target areas within the communities.
In Cypress, $80,000 will be used to fund low-interest loans and grants to low- and moderate-income families for improvements to their property. An additional $145,000 will be spent on street repairs along Danny Avenue.
In Stanton, $95,000 has been set aside for home-improvement loans and $15,000 will be used to administer the program. Stanton will also receive $60,000 to reconstruct portions of 1st and 2nd streets.
Los Alamitos will receive $25,000 to rebuild an alley on Los Alamitos Boulevard and $10,000 for home-improvement loans.
To qualify, a family of four must have an income of $27,500 or less. Repairs can include adding a roof or new room if there is overcrowding; luxury additions are excluded.
