A woman was struck by a train about 7:50 p.m. Wednesday at the San Juan Capistrano Amtrak depot but survived, spokesmen for the Sheriff’s Department and county Fire Department said.
Paramedics took the unidentified woman to Mission Community Hospital in Mission Viejo.
“She’s all intact,” hospital nursing coordinator Terri Castillo said. “She’s got some facial lacerations, and abrasions all over her. But she’s still in one piece. “She was standing on the train tracks waving her arms and got hit at about 55 m.p.h., the ambulance driver told me. I guess the train started to slow down when it saw somebody.
“She’s able to give us a little bit of information. She’s alert. We’re trying to find out what her name is.”
