Jim Spence, senior vice president of ABC Sports for the last eight years, submitted his resignation.
The network announced a week ago that Roone Arledge, under whom Spence had worked, would relinquish his sports duties to concentrate on heading ABC’s news division.
Arledge was replaced as the sports chief by Dennis Swanson, formerly head of ABC-owned stations.
