Eldon Miller Will Step Aside as Ohio State’s Basketball Coach

Ohio State basketball Coach Eldon Miller apparently volunteered Monday to step down, effective at the end of the season. The university’s athletic director cited “a lack of support . . . in the community” as the reason for the move.
Athletic Director Rick Bay said at a news conference: “(Miller) came to see me this morning. He simply said it was in the best interests of the program that we begin to look for a new coach.”
The Buckeyes have lost five of their last six games and eight of the last 12. Last Thursday, they were beaten by Minnesota, a team that had lost five of its players to disciplinary action in the previous week and was filling in with football players.
Miller, 46, is in his 10th season at Ohio State and has compiled a 167-113 record.
