Coast Guard investigators reported little success in their search for the sources of three oil slicks off the Northern California coast that have coated hundreds of sea birds in black goo. A Coast Guard spokeswoman said investigators had identified the type of oil in the spills, but had been unable to link the oil to a particular ship.
