Spry’s Free Throws Give USIU Win
SAN DIEGO — Amanda Spry made two free throws with one second remaining to give the United States International University women’s basketball team a 67-66 win over Purdue Monday night at Serra High School.
Spry, who finished with 19 points, intercepted an inbound pass with four seconds remaining and then was fouled while she was driving toward the basket. USIU (8-2) received 12 points from Gloria DeCree and 10 from Sonya Carter.
In other nonconference action:
Hamline (Minn.) 65, UC San Diego 60--Pam Summers scored 19 points to lead Hamline past the Tritons. Chri McCallum scored 17 points and Shelley Velie added 11 for UCSD.
