Newport Beach : Firefighter Injured in Corona del Mar Blaze
A firefighter suffered minor injuries during a blaze that destroyed a Corona del Mar residence Monday morning.
Firefighter Tom Lloy’s sustained neck burns but was not hospitalized, a Newport Beach Fire Department spokesman said.
No one was in the house at 510 1/2 Fernleaf Ave. when the fire, which caused an estimated $200,000 damage, broke out at 8:09 a.m. The fire took 21 minutes to extinguish.
The cause of the fire, which slightly damaged two adjacent houses, is still under investigation, authorities said.
