College Basketball Roundup : Michigan Is 12-0 After 105-85 Win

Senior forward Richard Rellford scored 21 points to lead No. 2-ranked Michigan over Cleveland State, 105-85, Sunday at Ann Arbor, Mich. The Wolverines are now 12-0, which is their best start ever. The previous best was 11-0 during the 1918-19 season.
Sophomore guard Gary Grant scored 19 points for Michigan, freshman forward Glen Rice had 16 and center Roy Tarpley 15.
TOURNAMENTS Far West
Oregon St. 59, Boston U. 55--Darryl Flowers made a steal and raced downcourt to score at the buzzer to seal Oregon State’s victory in the third-place game of the Far West Classic at Portland.
Jose Ortiz scored a game-high 20 points for Oregon State (5-4). Boston University now is also 5-4.
Earlier Sunday, Joe Wright hit two free throws in overtime to lift Kansas State past the University of Tampa, 69-68, in the fifth-place game and Anthony Taylor scored a career-high 31 points as Oregon defeated Tennessee Tech, 91-60, in the seventh-place game.
Rainbow
Wake Forest 75, Hawaii 68--Mark Cline scored 16 of his game-high 18 points in the second half to lead Wake Forest (5-5) in a consolation-bracket game of the Rainbow Classic at Honululu. Hawaii is now 3-7.
In the final first-round game Saturday night, Missouri beat defending national champion Villanova, 72-53. Missouri is now 8-4, Villanova 6-5.
Sun Bowl
Texas El Paso 58, Ohio St. 57--Juden Smith scored 17 points and hit a last-minute free throw to help Texas El Paso (10-1) edge Ohio State (9-2) in the semifinals of the Sun Bowl tournament at El Paso. On Friday night, El Paso knocked off No. 5-ranked Georgetown.
Ohio State’s Brad Sellers had 27 points and 18 rebounds.
El Paso will face Alabama, a 78-61 winner over Nebraska, in tonight’s championship game.
