FBI Tells of 23 Attacks It Foiled

WASHINGTON — In a year of burgeoning terrorism against Americans traveling overseas, the FBI foiled nearly two-dozen terrorist incidents in this country, Director William H. Webster said today.
In an interview on NBC’s “Today” program, Webster said that over the past year, the FBI thwarted 23 domestic terrorist incidents before they could materialize. Spokesman Lane Bonner said that was the highest one-year total since the bureau began keeping track of such interdictions in 1982.
