Whittier : Street Repairs Authorized
The City Council has approved plans to repair and repave a quarter of the city’s streets beginning in January. The $610,000 project will be paid for with the city’s share of state gasoline-tax funds, said Vergil Haight, director of public works.
Most of the repairs will be on streets north of Whittier Boulevard between College Avenue and the eastern city limit. If bids are low enough, Haight said, the project will be expanded to include streets in other parts of the city. Work should be complete by April 1.
